North American Aviation RF-86 SABRE

The story which didn't happen ... outside Atlantic Air Combat

RF-86 Sabre in the context of ATLANTIC AIR COMBAT
A reconnaissance version of the F-86A had been produced in limited quantity as an in-the-field modification during the Korean War.   Similarly, a few F-86F30 were adapted to this role and a limited quantity of factory built airframes were also produced, and used either by the USAF, the Korean Air Force and by Taiwan.

For the purpose of the game, a cheat aircraft, the RF86G might be made available for the same role.   Considering the RF86A kept some internal armament while the RF86F did not, and keeping in mind AAC is only a game, the RF86G will be able to carry significant "self defense" weapons and will be capable to be refueled in flight, very much like the AAC fighter version is.

Herebelow are summaries of the RF86G specifications along with data collected on its real life brethen.

Performances
As with the fighter version, performances are aligned on the F86F40, but for the engine which will thus be the Canadian Orenda 14.

Weapons
A pair of .50cal machine guns is maintained, imitating some of the RF-86A conversions, with a similar reduction of ammo available.   Then, the "F40" wing being exactly the same, this fantasy RF86G may theoretically carry exactly the same weapons load like any other F86 variant in the game.   However, the inner pylon dedicated to air-to-air missiles obstructing the side cameras, it has been deleted and this particular weapon moved to the outer wing area.

Cameras
But thus the main purpose of this aircraft is to take pictures.   Like other items in the game, cameras will be defined.  Here, the the RF86G is equipped with 3 cameras, one taking vertical views and two taking lateral ones.  The latter are not hindered by the presence of AIM-9B missiles as these have been moved outward.
