Bombs Collections

The main range of conventional bombs in AAC is inspired by the WWII US AN-M serie which is then simply copied into Soviet arsenal.  The illustrated summary shown herre is not intended to be comprehensive - please refer to the detailed tables below.

Then, France, Britain, Sweden and Switzerland all have their own ranges, which will be associated with specific air forces or aircrafts as appropriate

The advent of fast jets lead to the design of streamlined bombs and again the idea is copied in AAC, either inspired by the US Mk80 or the Soviet M62 series.

A few extra bombs will be added to this basic dual collection, especially when French and British armament are at stake.

The two main ranges of bombs will apply to either "Eastern" or "Western" aircrafts, with secondary sourced items being associated with specific air forces or aircrafts as appropriate.   Other ranges of bombs are present along the two main ones :
demolition bombs (for the purpose of hitting special targets or the relative enjoyment to generate bigger bangs)
nuclear bombs (to fulfill a specific purpose which will not be unveiled on these pages)

Napalm and fuel-air-explosive bombs have been examined on this page but they now have shifted into discarded items  as they are not essential  to the purpose of Atlantic Air Combat™

Finally, while the actual weight of conventional bombs differs from their nominal denomination (eg: the US M64 actually weights 534 lbs), total weight here is usually expressed nominally.  The explosives content usually refers to actual data, but there are exceptions - AAC values aim at plausibility rather than historical precision.

Ή :

The Tarzon bomb had more control surfaces and a pointed nose, like the Tallboy, but the profile above nevertheless highlights how the "Torzan" might look like in AAC™, with the real Tarzon looking more like shown here.  Also, the real overall weight of the ASM-A-1 was 13,000 lb.  The choice of a weight of 12,000 lb is deliberate.

Only a selection of the various nuclear weapons which existed at the time are listed below, presumably the maine ones.  Both Sweden (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3)  and Switzerland had projected to develop a nuclear arsenal of their own, a project put to a halt in 1967 and 1988 respectively.  For the purpose of AAC it is here imagined these programmes were coordinated and gave birth to real weapons thus available with these countries in the NECO arsenal.
