BACKGROUND  NOTES

=
-
[ª] After seizing Aaland islands from Finland, the USSR and its allies will try
their luck on main land battles with :
Finland & Sweden who will resist NATO's assistance
Western Germany in a main clash with NATO armored bataillons
But USSR has other plans...  In order to distract NATO from the excessively
expected West front and weaken the bounds between allies:
It will throw spearheads toward Austria and Switzerland trying to have
them cut their relations with the West and spread fear
It will attempt to weaken NATO's resupply by blocking Antwerp without
invading Belgium, in a bold attempt to split Belgium from Holland
It will refrain from attacking Denmark, notwithstanding its involvement
in order to create disarray among the Nordic countries
These are the grounds of the land battles to come, where reconnaissance,
air support, interdiction, and counter attacks by various sides will prevail
[º] The Battle of Scandinavia:
Finland and Swedish air assets fighting together
Denmark and Norway air assets split into three fronts
[¹] The Western Front:
USAFE, Canada, and RAF take the blow along with the Luftwaffe
Belgian, Dutch and French Air Forces held in reserve
[²] The Central Front:
Austrian and Swiss Air Forces put to test
France and Italy are to try to help
[³] The Walcheren Affair:
Dutch forces split between their East and the North Sea
RAF, French and Belgian Air Force are bound to intervene
[*] And more ... with Northern and Southern hemispheres force landings

Vehicles

Vehicles carrying anti-aircraft guns, either light or heavy, are a matter of interest while any main gun  isn't.  Dedicated AA warfare vehicles are actually classified as weapons.  The number of Cold War military vehicles is too large to encompass them all in an AAC™ background study even if some data gathering has been carried and the result reproduced on the following background pages:
