Introduction

Several liquid cooled V12 cylinder engines are referred to in AAC, even if in broad terms.  A few names come to mind, like the  Hispano HS12Z or the Klimov VK107 to only name a couple.  In order to simplify the AAC database, the various V12 engines will be reduced to a limited set of references. 

With smaller and older engines like the Rolls Royce Kestrel or Peregrine being deliberately disregarded one cannot fail to observe that the Rolls Royce Merlin and the Allison V1710 (for example) were battling in the same category.   Considering some of these engines were or were not boosted by a supercharger, turbosupercharger or methanol injection, it is suggested to have two "V12" engines in AAC, each with two subvariants, either offering extra "combat emergency" power or not

maximum "emergency" power - equivalent to the "wet" thrust of a jet engine

engine "speed" when at maximum power - to help define the engine sound track

SFC

specific fuel consumption, expressed in lb/hp/hr - a linear value specific to each engine, which will define range (when fuel management is switched on)

Dimensions aimed at defining an impact area, allowing occurence (and management) of damages

This first AAC reference would stand for engines in the 1000-1800 hp category, namely the Allison V1710, the Packard V1650, the Rolls Royce Merlin, the Hispano-Suiza H12Y/H12Z, the DB601 and DB605, the Jumo 211 and 213, and the Klimov VK107
