INTRODUCTION

The Boeing 737-100 and 200 were the first variants of a family of Boeing's twinjet airliner.  It was conceived as a short range small capacity airliner to complement long and medium range jet airliners Boeing already had on offer.  It was originally planned to carry 60 to 85 passengers although it ended up carrying a hundred.  It shared 60% of the 727 airframe and systems.

The 737-100 first flew in April 1967 and entered service in February the following year with Lufthansa.  Only 30 were built in 1968 and 1969.  The streched 737-200 soon followed with more than a thousand delivered from 1968 onward : 991×737-200, 104×737-200C and 19×T-43A (navigator trainers)  of which several were modified into miltary passengers/VIP transports.

As such the type is beyond Atlantic Air Combat™ time frame but might inspire a Western short range twin jet airliner/transport.
